My Tour To State of Madhya Pradesh In India
September 29, 2009
I recently had the opportunity to travel to central India and spent most of time in the state of Madhya Pradesh. However the original plan was to spend only a week there, seeing the major sites and tourist attractions, but the charm of the state kept me there for longer time then it was intended.
Madhyapradesh is a state in India (also known and referred as MP when abbreviated). It’s a middle state in India and was the largest state in India until a part of it was separated and the state of Chhattisgarh was formed as a new state. The state of Madhya Pradesh borders with Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttarpradesh and of course Chhattisgarh.
Our journey started from Bhopal, the capital city of Madhya Pradesh. There are direct flights available to Bhopal from Mumbai and Delhi. Once you in Bhopal you can either hire a cab or seek any good travel operator’s assistance to take you to different tourist places in the state. There are many destinations in the state which you should visit but some which should not be avoided in my perspective are Pench National Park, Bandhavgarh National Park, Ujjain, Indore, Amarkantak, Bhedaghat, Kannha, Khajuraho,Mandu, Omkareshwar and Pachmarhi. I guess one good source to checkout travel plans, rail and airways information is this site. you guys should check out this site for information about state of Madhya pradesh.
However there is a lot to see in Madhya Pradesh but I loved my visit to Bandhavgarh, Bhimbetka and Ujjaain personally. Acording to the epic Indian stories the Bhagwana (Lord) Ram gave one fort to his brother named Laxman, and that’s why the place is called Bandhavgarh ( which means brother’s fort). The city or town has a national park which is called Bandhavgarh and it’s one of just few hosts for Asian tigers. Another place which I really liked is Bhimbetka rock shelters, The rocks are very old and they are from the earliest human race. According to the survey the rocks and rock paintings are approximately 9 thousand years old. The city of Ujjain, is very famous hindu holi city which is also called city of temples. There are ample of attractions and trust me you wont be disappointed if you get a chance to spend your holidays there.
